Occasions

The world of Ideation has its own share of major holidays and events. Notable ones will be listed below.

If you have finished Development Prompts for your Edeia, you can propose an occasion focused on your Edeia to be listed officially here. Note that it is still up to Auspice whether or not they accept, which may depend on relevance to the world, community interest, and potential community involvement. Highly restrictive events may not be accepted.

Pride Morph

Established: 2030
Observed: Every June
Organizers: Morph, in collaboration with government
Location: One sector of city; the city changes each year

During Pride Morph, all present in a designated section of the city decided as the location receive a trial morph from Morph. Over the course of a month, these individuals will have a body that fluidly matches their desired gender expression, gradually stabilizing and ending with their preferred form at the end of the month.

Morph will be present in the sector over the course of the month, though they may come and go. On June 1, they use their powers on a wide scale, but visitors coming in during the month will experience the morph as well. After Pride Morph, Morph will then spend the following month or two mostly resting in their Abstraction.

The Hallowed Procession

Established: ~5000 BCE, public since 2035
Observed: October 31
Organizer: Ritual
Location: Worldwide

Since the Ancient Ages, on October 31st each year, Ritual would walk the earth, gathering offerings in what would come to be known as the Hallowed Procession. Depending on the offering and the giver's desires, the next year would bring a certain blessing or other phenomenon. They would welcome any who wished to join their parade, whether they were active Worshippers, former Worshippers, or simply those joining in the festivities - they would be donned in veils of darkness with crimson eyes, walking paths of shadows to gather others' offerings. Those who walked with Ritual would be linked to the minds of Ritual and all the others, joining in the delight of the night parade. Time seems to extend infinitely and they never seem to tire as they travel across the world. At the end, during the ages of Magic and Secrecy, many mortals would only remember it as a dream.

Since Ritual's public reveal in 2035, this became a more public phenomenon, and the Procession no longer obfuscated mortal participants' memories. Rather than hiding amongst the shadows, the Procession would be visible even from afar as a mass of swirling darkness accompanied by crimson eyes and crimson flames. It is an invitation - will you make an offering, or will join the Procession?

The Hallowed

Those who join are "Hallowed." They are bathed in crimson flame and become donned in the garb of the Procession.  To at least some extent, participants share thoughts and consciousness with Ritual and other members of the Procession, though depending on their preference, their thoughts can be "anonymous." Their cognition is altered, achieving a sort of high-dimensional state where they can also mentally traverse time. They also do not experience physical or mental exhaustion.

The Procession always appears at the "most suitable moment" all across the world. They can appear in multiple places at the same time, though they never overlap. The subjective experience of participants may be sequential, with them experiencing each location in sequence in memory, or it could be parallel, with them experiencing multiple locations at the same time, depending on what is most suitable for the individual's cognition. When at a particular location, members of the Procession may disperse and knock on individual doors or seek out stragglers, with Ritual only directly meeting those on their path.

When the Hallowed receive an offering into their flame, they feel a boost in energy and many experience a subjective sense of enjoyment. This can range from a psychological sense of satisfaction, a sense of delicious taste, a warm and comfortable feeling, a pleasurable sensation, etc. It changes depending on their subconscious preference - if they prefer not to have the feeling at all, then they will not feel anything other than the boost in energy. The intensity of the feeling depends on both the importance/weight of the offering and how much the recipient likes the offering.

The Hallowed gain the power to grant blessings and cause phenomena through the power of the offerings given into their flames. Their own will and preference can play a part in determining what is given, though there is a strong influence of Ritual and some influence from the overall Procession in determining whether a reward is suitable. The blessings and phenomena cannot be malicious so long as the offering is earnest, though they can range from small and silly to a magnificent boon if the offering is greatly appreciated.

EdeiaCon

Established: 2025
Observed: April (typically mid to late)
Organizers: Edeia Appreciation Convention Committee (EACC)
Location: Rotates between major cities in united society

EdeiaCon is an annual convention celebrating Edeia and their impact on culture, history, innovation, and other aspects of society. What started as a small gathering of Edeia enthusiasts has grown into one of united society's largest magical-cultural events, drawing attendees from around the world.

The convention includes panels and lectures on Edeiology, art galleries of mundane and magic works by Edeia, cosplay contests, magic demonstrations, vendor halls, and various other activities. Each attendee registers a profile specific for the convention, where they can provide a brief overview of themself and their social preferences; an individual's personal device (whether a Datacube, phone, smart glasses, or something else) can display that information about others when needed.

EdeiaCon is run by the Edeia Appreciation Convention Committee (EACC); read more about them here.

History

The first EdeiaCon was held in April 2025, organized by a group of Ideation Academy students who had been studying Edeiology. The inaugural event was relatively small, hosted in a university conference center with about 500 attendees. To everyone's surprise, several Edeia attended the first convention, curious about how mundane society perceived them. Their presence transformed what could have been a simple fan convention into a genuine cultural exchange. Data was particularly supportive, seeing value in these interactions between Edeia and mundane society.

The convention grew rapidly over the next few years. By 2030, attendance had reached over 50,000, necessitating the formation of the official Edeia Appreciation Convention Committee (EACC) to handle organization and logistics. The EACC consists primarily of mundane individuals but maintains several Edeia advisors to ensure respectful representation.

In united society, EdeiaCon evolved into a bridge between Edeia and non-Edeia. The event has helped normalize Edeia presence in united society while providing opportunities for mutual understanding and appreciation. Many Edeia view it as an important avenue for connecting with the mundane world, while humans often cite it as their first meaningful interaction with magical beings.
