Body Types
This page includes descriptions of body type specifications that can be used for commissioning Edeia designs (notions, semi-customs, and customs). Body types have no effect on lore, this is simply to help with design specifications.
Note that body types can overlap, especially those within the same general category. Additionally, the body type only refers to their masterlist image; they can freely shapeshift to add, remove, and change their limbs.
You can see a rough categorization of body types in the "Body Type" column of the Masterlist.
If there is a body type you're unsure about, please ask about it before submitting a form. If it is not permitted, the traits of that body type will need to be specified as extra specifications.
General Types
These types are very non-specific. Specification of these types can end up as one or multiple of the subcategory body types. These have the same pricing as simple/standard types.
humanoid: an upright form, generally with two arms, two legs, and a distinct head. Additional arms, wing(s), tail(s), and other appendages may be added. This is a general option that includes somewhat abstract humanoids, alate humanoids, theriomorphic humanoids, robed humanoids, and anything that decently resembles a humanoid form. The head/face may be flat/humanoid, abstract, or feral/beastlike.
feral: unspecified real or mythical animal creature/beast, including quadrupedals, polypedal beasts, birds, all dragon types, non-humanoid cryptids, etc.
Combination Types
These types can be combined with any other body type (except themselves). You cannot specify both (i.e. abstract amorphous humanoid), but they can combine (i.e. abstract amorphous). The pricing inherits the price of the original type.
abstract + other body type: the body types without the abstract specifier may still be fairly abstract, but including this will push the design more towards disconnected parts, missing limbs, geometric shapes, and other abstract characteristics.
amorphous + other body type: a form consisting mostly or entirely of some kind of amorphous material, such as material resembling smoke, slime, shadows, etc., that generally takes the shape of the other specified body type.
Simple/Standard Body Types
Generally, these have four minimum limbs or less; Auspice may add more limbs (usually upper limbs, including arms and wings) if they desire. A non-exhaustive list is below:
Humanoid subtypes (note that any limb characteristics not noted, such as legs, are open to Auspice's interpretation):
theriomorphic humanoid: humanoid with some kind of animal characteristic(s), usually including digitigrade legs, a tail, and a beast-like head.
robed humanoid: humanoid with robes or a cloak of some sort replacing, not usually just covering, some or all of their limbs.
unicaudal humanoid: humanoid upper body with limbless tail, like in the sense of mermaids and nagas. There is some ambiguity between abstract humanoids without legs and unicaudal humanoids; generally, the unicaudal humanoids' tails move around more flexibly and are longer than legless abstract humanoids.
pteropodal humanoid: humanoid with wings replacing arms/hands.
atelic humanoid: humanoid without arms or legs; essentially a torso with a head. Typically has other characteristics like wings and abstract structures. Overlaps with "abstract humanoid." "Abstract" also overlaps with and can result in an abstract atelic humanoid appearance.
Feral subtypes:
quadrupedal: a four-legged creature, typically resembling vertebrates/beast-like creatures such as canines, felines, rodents, bears, etc.
sphinx: a four-legged form with a more humanoid/flat face.
avian: a feral form with wings, two hindlimbs, and a fairly compact body (as opposed to serpentine).
serpentine: long, limbless body.
pisciform: a fish-like body that may be limbless or with fins, with a more compact body compared to a serpentine body type.
zilant: a serpentine form with wings and two forelimbs.
lindwyrm: a serpentine form with two forelimbs.
amphithere: a serpentine form with wings and no other types of limbs.
wyvern: a serpentine form with two hindlimbs and wings that can function as forelimbs.
Other types:
cloak: a form that consists largely of a mostly-empty cloak with some sort of head, with or without other limbs. May lean towards a more abstract look or a humanoid look/posture; often overlaps with abstract humanoid.
abstract: a form largely consisting of geometries, disconnected parts, and/or characteristics that do not resemble living creatures.
Complex Body Types
Generally, these have more than four minimum limbs. A non-exhaustive list is below:
Humanoid subtypes:
alate humanoid: humanoid with wings attached to or floating near the torso. Specifying additional wings or wings in other locations requires extra specifications; a humanoid body type with wings as an extra specification may or may not end up as an alate humanoid. | 10 USD
Feral subtypes:
polypedal: creature with more than four legs, typically resembling vertebrates/beast-like creatures such as canines, felines, rodents, bears, etc. | 8 USD
insectoid: creature with six spindly limbs that may or may not have digits, and may or may not have other insectoid traits such as a carapace or segmented limbs. | 10 USD
alate feral: feral creature with wings attached to or floating near the torso/main body and at least four legs, including dragons and pegasi. Specifying additional wings or wings in other locations requires extra specifications; a feral body type with wings as an extra specification may or may not end up as an alate feral. | 10 USD
hydra: multi-headed (at least three) feral creature with at least four legs. | 15 USD
Chimeric types:
centaur: humanoid upper body, quadrupedal lower body (typically long legs/equine). | 10 USD
taurian: humanoid upper body, feral (at least four limbs) lower body. | 12 USD
